Calling All Adults in Humboldt County!
The Humboldt CYC Chapter is actively seeking new adult volunteers to support our local foster youth policy organizing efforts! The chapter is recruiting committed adults who are passionate about youth development and foster care reform! The supporters assist youth members learn how to lead and run their own chapter on a hands-on level in order to move their local issue, Improving How Foster Parents are Prepared, community awareness, and youth recruitment campaigns forward. The time commitment is generally 10 hours monthly, but more or less depending on the current activities.
About the Humboldt Chapter
Over 15 current and former foster youth members ages 14-24 living in Humboldt County are leading the chapter and inspired to make change locally through their local policy issue of: Improving How Foster Parents are Prepared. The youth are guided to make their vision a reality through the assistance of dedicated adults serving in the supporter role. The chapter meets twice monthly, 1st & 3rd Wednesday evenings, 5:30-7:30pm, at ILS (134 D St.), in Eureka. In between chapter meetings, the chapter holds committee meetings as needed and engages in policy and youth leadership development skills building opportunities locally and statewide. The chapter is a part of the Humboldt County Transition Age Youth Collaboration (HCTAYC), generously sponsored by the Humboldt County DHHS.
