Description: Provides leadership development trainings to all transition age youth (16-26 years old) in Humboldt, and may offer support for youth to attend leadership development events on a local, state and national level. Youth Advisory Board applications are available; YAB members receive monthly stipends for their participation in meetings, social events and conferences.

Description: Voluntary program designed to assist youth in transitioning from the foster care system. Youth who have been in foster care after their sixteenth birthdays are eligible for ILSP services until the day before their 21st birthdays. Youth are referred to the program by their social worker or probation officer. ILS Coordinator offers three kinds of service: Workshops, Special Events and Individual Services. ILS also assists youth in obtaining their birth certificates, California ID cards and other documents. To encourage participation, the program provides incentives. To encourage youth to finish high school, eligible youth who are active in the program (meaning have attended at least 6 events) receive a household start-up kit containing brand new dishes, sheets, pots, pans, a phone, and many other items as a gift upon graduation.

Description: CYC promotes the participation of foster youth in policy development and legislative change to improve the foster care system, and strives to improve social work practice and child welfare policy. CYC Chapters in counties throughout the state identify local issues and use grassroots and community organizing to create change.

Description: Youth in Mind is a statewide organization made up of young people affected by the mental health system seeking to promote positive change through leadership and advocacy within the field of mental health. Youth in Mind members participate in all levels of system change including member leadership summits, mental health conferences, and local advocacy opportunities.

Description: The Ink People's office is open Tues-Sat 11-4 and the first Saturday of each month from 6-9 PM for Arts Alive! This is a public benefit community cultural development organization founded in 1979. They encourage people to exercise their humanity, build civic discourse and engage their creative potential. Offers exhibitions, classes, workshops, films, an arts and humanities library, poetry readings, free Internet access, and special events. Facilities include shared studios for photography, printmaking, painting & drawing, digital arts, and fiber arts, and a performance/meeting space.
